I am feeding Purina brands which is a general pellet and a Senior mix. I am also feed Grass Hay and then some Alfalfa Cubes as well.

I don't feel comfortable with the Purina and Buckeye sounds good.

I just checked on the Buckeye and I can't get anyone to order it and the nearest place is 46 miles away. This is so frustrating...........

What are your thoughts on Nutrena Vitality Perform and Horse Quick Complete? I only have the option of my local dealer with does carry Nutrena.

Purina has one called Born to Win it is a lower level one but still much better then most grain based feeds

Give me some time and I will dig for the others

If you use the links I provided and just enter your zip in some adn click on your state for other it will help you locate them

Peggy Sue, I did that and the one that was within a reasonable drive time was Buckingham Equine and she is my current vet. She quit carrying Kent and switched to Purina as she has problems with Kent and horses being colicy - namely twisted stomach.

Vet or not she is pointing the finger in the WRONG direction My horses were on Kent for 4 years and the only colic I had was from fresh grass NOT the feed

Kent is a fixed formula and much better then Purina Yes I have looked into them both LOL and called and called people asking tons of questions

also by going to a ration balancer if your horses only need 1lb a day you could buy two bags and it will last you 50 days so roughly make the hour trip to get Buckeye every other month

Kinda what I suspected - I have read a ton on Kent since you sending me the link and it seems to be very highly recommended but the issue still remains that I don't have a dealer close by

Kent feeds are AWESOME. Whenever I bring home an 'issue' horse, I always start them on those feeds until I get them built up to handle others.

You could just add the Ration Balancer with your other feed-cut back some and add it in. Some say, "if it ain't broke don't fix it', and that is true to a certain extent-but they would benefit from an RB in their diet. I can't say I was pleased with feeding that and hay alone-but I do like feeding them in conjunction with my other feeds.

OK I did the math it cost me $19.86 cents per month for my Ration Balancer per horse which is a total of $79.45 for four horses worth the drive IMO
