Not wanting to go all of the sudden???

Well, The past few times I have gone out riding my horse seems upset, and doesn't want to go....at the rodeo last weekend, she was unhappy, though when we got in the arena, she got her job done, she just wasn't happy. And today, she kept trying to turn around and didn't want to keep going. I can't seem to figer out why....anyone got any thoughts on this?

Could it be that she's slightly off? When Dancer is the least bit sore, even if I can't feel it, she is very sluggish, and she's normally very forward.

Have you looked at any health problems? Ill-fitting saddle, sore back, feet, saddle sores, sore teeth, neck/back/hip problems? Change in feed, schedule, barn mates? Sudden change in the weather?

Does she only act that way when you go to barrel race her, go into the arena, and when you work on barrels? Most horses get sour of barrel racing if that's what you mostly do with them and don't want to do it anymore. They get sick of it. Try going on a fun, relaxing trail ride and letting her take her mind off work.

I know the saddle fits right....I don't think her back is sore...but her feet might be....I was going to clean them then use the knife on them...but I couldn't find the knife.....Weather has been warm then got chily...And she did get a feed change...but that was after she got like this

The first thing is it run your hand down her back, watch her skin and her face to see if she flinches. The most common areas are along the withers and near her croup.
Watch her walk, trot and canter and see if you can see any grade of a limp. Press on her hooves and see if she flinches or pulls away from that.
Feel her back teeth and see if they feel sharp - be careful to not get bit! Check her all over for any kind of sores. Sometimes, if you give her a bath, you'll be able to see sores that aren't apparent otherwise.
I would see if an equine chiropractor can get out to look at her too, that might give you a better idea. If all else fails, get a vet out.
