Not being fully sedated! AHH!

Oh my gosh!

You know what is so creepy!
During surgeries when people are not fully asleep.
They cant move or anything, but they can feel and see.
Can someone inform me more on this?
How often does it happen??

Oh my!
Its scary!!

It happened to me! I was having my wisdome teeth taken out.

I don't know what part of the operation I woke up at (didn't know how long it had been).

I started feeling pressure and hearing voices. And when you close your eyes and it's bright out you can "see" light? I could "see" the light from the room and that over head light thing.

Didn't hurt and it wasn't scary.

I went promptly back to sleep and woke up later.

And then started to cry a few minutes later LOL But that's just a side affect of the anesthesia.

Basically all I thought was "oh, they're taking my teeth out...oh yeah..." and then I was dreaming again haha

Happened to me too..almost exactly the same experience as bay_blnd_jmpr07. It was during an abdominal surgury. I mentioned it to the doctor afterwards and he said I was just dreaming, but I dont believe it.

I am not emotionally scarred or anything from it

With my wisdom teeth they just did not knock me out, and I don't think they gave me enough drugs at all. I could feel everything I started screaming. It hurt bad. Not a good experience.
With the other surgery I had, I was out cold, but woke up vomitting. I remember the room was all blurry I couldn't really talk but just mumbled something and made like I was choking I guess and the nurse came running. Yuck.

I've heard about it too.
You are fully sedated, in the sense that you can't move at all, basically paralyzed. But your brain wakes up, and you feel everything, and there's nothing you can do about it because you can't move.
I don't know how often it happens or anything though. The thought of it has always freaked me out too though.

Do you mean when people are having brain operations and things of the sort where they are kept awake just enough to tell the doctors if they can still feel poking on their legs and arms and such? Or when people completely wake up during surgery but are just stuck?

I've heard of this too, but it has never happened to me.
Bleh, it reminds me of a Stephen King story I read a while ago. The guy in the story was awake, but completely paralized when they started his autopsy!!

*runs and hides under bed*
