Yes it is, BUT the horse should be worked 6 days a week to get adequate exercise.

Astros paddocks are mostly 1/2 acre and he is in full work so he gets plenty of exercise.

So long as the fencing is safe, the paddock has good shelter, he is worked regularly and he has a mate close by to him (in a dif paddock) then he'll be fine.

He should also be supplemented with plenty of hay if there isn't much grass.

if people keep their horses in a stable 24/7 then an acre must be ok if you're going to exercise it well

Seems to me like if you wouldn't be able to let the grass rest it would just get run down into a mud pit. But I don't know your drainage situation.

Very true...and it would be highly infested with worms after a while.

You really do need a paddock to rotate.

Unless you want to feed the horse hay all the time. You should have at least five to ten acres per horse depending how good the pasture is. It sounds like a lot but at the rate my horses eat grass it really isn't. And it is not just grass it is also play value for horses need a place to run and play.

I was thinking I would make to small fields out of the one and rotate that way would that be alright? If I get a horse he will be rode every day.

How big would that make each paddock then? Less than 1/4 acre??

The horse would survive...I mean it wouldn't kill him! But that doesn't mean its an ideal living arangement for him...you will be spending ALOT on feed...you will be going through alot of hay.

Be sure to give the horse a day off once a week.

Will he have a mate close by? Horses really thrive on equine company...if not equine then a sheep, goat or cow.

Don't forget you have to have room for some kind of shelter too.
