| Senior Member+ | Normal for a belly-button piercing??
I got my belly button pierced on April 1st. It's been about a month and a half. It is no longer red - but- it still gets the whiteish yellow fluid from time to time, and right now, I think I am a bit bloaty from PMS, but it is sore underneath the piercing inside my belly button(I have an innie outie), just in the tissue surrounding about 1/4" below the piercing on the right side. I also am sore on the right side of the barbell(my right) - on the front part of the piercing - but not on the left. It just hurts when I put pressure on it on the right side. Could there just be fluid buildup there? And it is a little harder to move than usual today. Would there be any reason as to why? The piercing isn't red, and never bothers me. I clean it 3-4 times daily with Dial Soap, and it moves freely, most of the time - as long as I clean off any crusties. Thanks in advance! -Aimee

It can take up to 9 months for a belly piercing to heal. Mine took over a year, because I get infections easily. Just make sure it's cleaned regularly, and you should be fine!

Most piercing parlors invite their customers to come back for a free check up on your piercing. If you are concerned about it, I would stop in and let them look at it to see that it is healing properly. Do you still have the original jewelry you were pierced with in? And ditto to what Jess said. Belly button piercings can take a while. |

Thanks Jess! So it's normal that one side is sore right now more than the other? And should I be doing the sea-salt soaks? Thanks! -Aimee

It has been my experience that curved barbells heal faster than one with a circle hoop, so that's a plus. I'd definetly do sea salt soaks. I never did, but I know a lot of people that did. |

How would you do one? I keep reading on how, but I'm still fuzzy on the idea. Thanks again, guys! -Aimee
