The reason they don't think there is an iron issue (remembered talking about this last year with a vet)......

is his platelets would bottom if it was an iron malabsorption.

But his platelets are fine, even high. Which is where all the vets I've consulted are "off" about what his issue was last year, and presenting the same blood cell count wise now.

By "book", he should be bottoming out with platelets.......

But one more "what if...this IS Blister" thing to add to the pile of "lets check it out for the heck of it" IF I can find a vet that can do it. Course, this round I DO have K-state 3 hours away........AND some really good connections into there......

I would highly recommend getting a consult with an equine specialist from one of the veterinary teaching hospitals. You can ask your vet to consult with them and send them copies of all medical records and labwork.

The only things I could find that had anemia to it is the following:

Blood Loss *Internal, External*.

Hemolysis and Hemolytic Anemias *Toxins, Infectious Diseases*

Inadequate Red Cell Production *Can be from Iron Deficiency, intestinal parasites and stomach ulcers*

Aplastic Anemia *heavy metal poisonings including insecticides, organic solvants adn hyrocarbons*

Idiopathic Aplastic Anemia Causes are undetermined

Have you had your water checked? Ponds, Tanks? Well? These could also be a source. Flouride toxicity?

I wished I could help more and maybe these have been ruled out already but I gave it a shot!

The hores has moved locations. So environment is not likely a factor.

I am so sorry to hear that you are going through this again. (((BIG HUGS))) I hope the vet can figure out what is wrong with him and it is manageable.
