no more riding for me..for a while

yep...no more riding for me for at least a month or so. I have mono (and i really don't know how i got it). Friday i started coughing really bad and just feeling kind of..icky, but i had to take Olivia to the barn for her lesson and Breyer needed to be ridden before our lesson Sat. morning so I rode. I felt pretty bad afterwards too and knew i probably shouldn't have done it but it was too late. Saturday I didn't feel any better, but i wasn't missing my lesson! (which ended up being absolutely fabulous!!). Then i was just kind of "zoned out" and feeling "blah" for the rest of the day. I went home and felt worse..took my temp and had fever..but i wasn't missing our barn christmas party (probably wasn't a smart idea to go, but im stubborn). When i got home Sat. night though i felt terrible and as the night went on i got worse. SO my mom took me to the Dr. yesterday morning and sure enough....i have mono. The nurse asked me if i played any sports. I told her i rode horses. she was like NO! NO! NO! not for a while at least (not at least for a month and up to 3 months if i don't rest enough and get better) because my spleen is enlarged and if i was riding and my horse spooked and i got jerked around real fast or fell off, it could cause my spleen to bleed and i could die (those nurses really know how to make someone feel good...)
I also have to miss midterms (which are today, tomorrow and wed. before break) so i'll have 6 huge tests to make up after christmas break.

I'm gonna go CRAZY not being able to ride for this long! but at least i can go out and play with my boys and lunge them and whatnot, and im gonna have to get one of my trainers to put some schooling rides on Breyer cause he cannot go that long without being ridden and jumped. (and next show season is right around the corner...which makes this situation even worse for me) And then, to think that Christmas is next week and im getting a bunch of new riding stuff and i won't be able to use it!!! ahhhhhh! this is so not fun!
anyways-that's my sad story!! i just had to vent and get it out!!

Oh no! Mono is the worst! I had it years ago and I still remember hating staying in bed. I swear I slept for a week straight.

Hopefully you feel better soon!

You poor thing!

You can spend the time not with the horses cleaning all your new gear (if it's leather), planning what you will do when you get back on, getting entry forms completed etc! By the time you can get back on, you will be the most organised person with nothing to worry about except getting ready for those shows! hehehe.

But time off riding really sucks, no matter what you do with your time.
