on monday we had a 4-H meeting at the barn. i totally forgot and so did the BM who was at my house looking at our backyard where the barn and pasture is going to be(so far we have NO poisonous plants) so the BM took me to the barn. our meeting was 1 1/2 hours. we decided what we'd do at each meeting and at the end of April we are having the meeting at my house. March we are going to have a lecture about horse breeding/reproduction and April we are having how to raise a foal. and by the meeting Fiona should have had her baby, so little groups could go to say hi to it. but after the meeting i got Fiona out and brushed her. then i decided that since i had some time before my mom came to get me i would go for a lil ride. i put her bridle on and headed to the arena. Fiona was good, she wasnt very willing to "work" like normal(on the bit, flexing ect) so i just let it be. then i got the crazy idea of riding her w/o her bridle. i leaned forward, undid the throat latch and slid the bridle off. Fiona just stood there. then we started to walk around and she was listening to my leg so well!! she stayed on the rail and turned where i looked. then i thought, i wonder wut she'd do if we trotted!! i first practiced walk halt trnasitions w/ my voice and seat and after a few times she stopped right away. i held onto her mane a lil just incase and trotted. it was awesome!! i went around the arena and when i said whoa she walked right away. it was so cool that i could trust Fiona that much to do something like that. its like Pat Parelli's natural horsemanship w/o the extra costly equipment. next thing ya kno i'll be jumping w/o a bridle next year!!! Wow..that's amazing! You really have a great bond with her. It's indescribable how it feels when you can trust a 1000 lb animal with your safety, and they can trust a you to guide them. Our 4-H group is doing the same thing about now...not much going on in that department this time of year. Nov. 1 is our next meeting, and I have to make a speech 'cause I wanna be treasurer. |

BBJ, You sure have come a long way. Great job. Good feeling huh? Such mastery. Pregnancy must suit Fiona. She wears it well.
