Niedersuss Saddles?

I'm looking into getting a dressage saddle and a woman who boards at my barn has a Niedersuss for sale. Does anyone have any experience with these saddles? It's an older saddle, but in VERY good condition (honestly, it looks almost new! And the woman said she'd ridden in it a lot!).

Back on track, how do these saddles hold up? Is there any difference between the older ones and the newer ones? Good/bad leather? Comfortable? Anything else?

Thanks!
Emily

Those are really nice saddles. If they are given half way decent care they never die. I tired to buy one for Abe years ago but unfortunately none were of their wide trees were wide enough (he was a really wide backed AQHA). They have several models one being called the Symphony if I remember right. The other models have special set ups for the billet straps that are pretty nifty. I especially liked the lower pommel design, comfort wise for me.

If it fits you and your horse you can't go wrong with that saddle.

Good to know, thanks jtm! Luckily, the saddle was flocked for her high-withered TB, and it fits Bodie like a glove! This is the first saddle that has ever fit Bodie I haven't had a chance to sit in it yet, but I'm crossing my fingers!

Dressage Extensions used to sell those saddles. Don't know if they still do. They probably could answer any questions you might have (ask for one of the saddle ladies). Good luck. www.dressage-ext.com.

They still sell them; look for the KN saddles (the K stands for Karl).

Also, how much would you expect to pay for an older, nice Niedersuss? I just want to see if I'm getting a good deal or not

Thanks!

$1,000 is what my friend was asking for hers. The new saddles cost quite a bit more now though than then.

Oh wow, I'm getting an AMAZING deal! The woman at my barn is asking $600 negotiable, and the saddle is in as good condition as the one you posted!

Yes; that sounds like an awesome deal! One thing I forgot to mention is that they only come in two seat sizes about 16 3/4" and about 17 1/2". Good luck!
