Nice half pad?

Does anyone know what tack store I can get a relatively cheap, decent half pad from? I don't really need a top of the line pad, I would just like one that can hold up to daily schooling's wear and tear and last a while.

You mean sheepskin or synthetic?

Ovation makes some reasonable sheepskin ones =]

I've got an ovation one, it was around $70 dollars. It looks great after 6 months of schooling in it every day. Gets nice and white in the wash even though you can't use bleach. The only problem I have is its a one-size-fits-all deal and for a saddle bigger then 16.5" I don't recommend it.

Roma sheepskin half pads are cheap and are pretty nice. I think Dover may carry them.

Check “Lauren’s Tack Trunk” ebay store. I got a “Diamond Wool Therapeutic Half Pad” for $48.40 shipped. It’s a really nice wool pad.

My daughter uses one of these, the one with the cantle roll, and they're very nice! You DO want something "top of the line" if you want it to stand up to daily schooling. These Engel pads seem just as nice as my daughter's friends' Fleeceworks pads, at least the sheepskin is. It's very dense and soft, and it fluffs back up after washing nicely. I use a dog Slicker brush to get the sheepskin fluffed back up, and I wash the pad by hand with woolite.

I agree with Luvs2ride -- I also purchased my Merino wool half pad from Aretes -- I've actually had multiples. Not only have they held up to every day schooling, they're exceptionally made and completely show worthy

Saddle pads (including 1/2 pads) are an investment for your horse's back
