News On Purchasing Stud Colt

Okay, as some of you know I have decided to purchase a stud colt off Triple R Ranch, instead of taking Cool Time back and re-breeding her.

Well Bev and Richie talked (owners of stud) and they have decided on a price for the 2 stud colts that they have now. This price is ONLY to me being as I have already invested money in the stud fee to breed to their stallion (Missouri Peppy Bar). They have priced the 2 studs to me at $1,150 each. I get my pick of either one.. and they will allow me to make payments on the one of my choice (since they know money for him will be on short supply at the moment).

I will be posting a picture of the sire in a few minutes. And I have 1 photo of the foals, however it is not a very good one so I will be sure to take some when I go to see them (possibly next month).

Here are pictures of Missouri Peppy Bar. They aren't the greatest. But I will get more when I go back up there...

Here's the horrible picture of the yearlings!

That stud is awsome looking.

Yes, the second one in is the one that I really like. The first one is my second choice.

The stud is a real sweetheart. Though I wouldnt say idiot proof, because he has his moments... but he's pretty even tempered. He's gentle with the mares, and he loves little children. My niece was playing with him and he was really careful to watch that he didn't hurt her... but we kept a close eye on her just to be safe... He just fell asleep while she was petting him...lol

The paint filly is not available and the Dun filly is hiding behind her somewhere. I'll take pictures of the 3 duns when I go...

The paint filly is the only one NOT by PEPPY.

Congrats Steph! The sire is a real beauty. Look at it like this, you don't have to go through all that worrying about Cool Time & waiting for the foal to be born & pacing the floor hoping all goes well, plus the one you're getting is older & you won't have to wait as long to start working him. Good luck! Please keep us posted & post more pics!

Thanks guys...

Congrats Megs, you'll have to show my pics!!!

In answer to the showing/breeding question: I will most definately be showing him, and I have high hopes for using him as a breeding stallion... but I have a rule that all future stallions must follow. " They have to be of breeding quality, in not only conformation, but in temperment, if they become too arrogant they must become geldings"

See I will not own a stallion that is so arrogant that he is uncontrolable. I have had problems with stallions being overbearing, unruly, unwilling to submit, and they are just a total headache. Also that temperment CAN be passed on to their foals and I refuse to risk having an unmanagable stallion on my propery.

Missy: Yes I will not have to worry about Cool Time. He is ready to start messing with, and I'll have less time to wait to begin saddle training him. Plus I get to see what I'm getting before I get it.

ALTHOUGH: The down point is, that it IS NOT my mare's baby...of course it's not just for sentimental reasons that I wanted her foal. She's got nice pedigree, good conformation, she's talented, athletic, has a very sound mind, and overall it would have been a nice addition/improvement to the AQHA breed had I been able to get a San Peppy foal out of her. But I'm not willing to risk her, so choosing a nice foundation SAN PEPPY foal is the next best choice for me.
