Two new fillies since my last posting. Wixom had her Commander filly right on schedule. She was one day early on the quarter moon June 10th. Good birth other than we were a little worried as Wix hadn't passed her placenta for the majority of the day until late afternoon. Went and purchased shots for nothing. I love to throw money away for fun.Anywho my darling snotbag of a filly is named Lorelei and to be flat honest I love her to death already. She's a show quality filly and I have to say take that to those who look past my little (15.2hh) Percheron mare. Size is not everything. Lorelei has it all figured out about who her friends are. She realizes people are cool and give out scratches. I admit that these are probably the quickest to be people friendly foals I have ever seen. After 13 years of raising Arabians I think the Percheron's are winning out on quickest to "join up" as far as babies go. I do think imprinting, and attitude of the mare go hand in hand with this as well. I'm told it just the draft attitude. Lorelei spent the majority of the day pressed against my shoulder trying to entice me to scratch her back and legs for her to keep the flies away. However due to her being a dirty baby, and probably some help from the light fly spray I misted over her back she is getting a bath tomorrow. She'll probably despise me after this one, but give her a day or two and she'll be back in my face again. Her tail is clean, and I am extremely happy about that. Nice and dry, and Dr. Mom does things right. She make's sure it's between the joints so that it'll be cleanly done as possible. Odd to see her with a nubbin but I know even though docked she'll grow a nice tail still to be able to swish flies unlike her poor poor mom. Her first leading and halter lesson went well. I can't say I've ever had the opportunity to work with a foal one handed. Everything I've ever started has been a two hander project and usually a rope braced around you while you try to convince your foal your not killing them so you can do the butt rope technique. I honestly believe it is no question that Wixi needs to go back to the same stallion. I've been back and forth over who to use my second breeding on and I think my best bet is the same route. I was more than happy with these foals this year and maybe I'll get my driving team yet. New owners of said stud are not breeding him to any outside mares. Mine are the only ones and they are giving him two years to prove himself on their senior stallion's daughters. It would take a blind man or a badtastic put together mare for them to not like the quality he is giving. 2 for 2 I give Commander babies a two thumbs up. Oh and then there is the other great debate. I better not announce this one too loudly because his new owners and the draft world may not be happy to hear. But it is possible that Lorelei is either just grey, and oddly greying out very quickly. Or she may be blue roan, and possibly also going grey. I'm going to hold on sending papers until I am certain with her foal shed. The reason I state such as we upon daddy's purchase saw his first foal that people refused to buy because he was so "oddly" colored. He was a blue roan going grey, and looked like a bloody shoulder Arabian. Just to clear up this was not the reason of the purchase of said stallion. So Mom and I are arguing over the color of this filly. I seem to always be the negative stating reasons why I don't think she could possibly be so, ect. We'll just see. These foals could of came out purple and I'd of been happy. They were as I wanted. Healthy foals, healthy mom's. Then finally.. I say finally because supposidly Sherri was due the 18th. however a few days difference.. so I was given a Summer Solstice filly early this morning. I thought gumpy when I saw Lorelei as a newborn so I'm learning to not pass judgement on my new babies finally. She has a nice refined head, and I love those thin hooked ears. Take that drafters!. lol. She can thank both her parents for that though it was a good cross. She's got a little bit of a hernia and her umbilical is a little long so I'm going to keep a eye on it and make sure all goes well. Sher is having a time keeping this filly together with her, however she is a excellent mom and the most experienced mare I have out here for that. No white markings. I was kind of suprised. I expected maybe a little something but then neither of her parents have white markings, not that that means anything. Mom said she saw a few white hairs near her eyes so thinks she is going grey. I didn't see said hairs, but then I didn't have time to really be up close and personal with her today. No name choices as of yet. I'm still thinking of what oddity to call her. Something pretty but not boring Jane, Jill, Doll, Sara, Suzie, ect. The draft world loves those names. They're nice names just not my kind. Okay so finally here are the photos. I'll go crazy with more that I took from today in a post tomorrow. Have to be up early for work and here I am late nighting it. Bad Diane, Bad. ![]() New filly. ![]() Lorelei

Thank you guys for your kind words. Do appreciate them. Crazy big plans. I can't wait to debut Lorelei next year in halter. I have three shows that I have my eye set on. Future definately looks promising. My new filly really hasn't had the time to grow on me yet. I spent the majority of my daylight hours at work yesterday, and then today I went directly from work to baling, and putting up hay until this evening. I've realized I don't have near as many photo's of her as I do Lorelei but I hate when they're new. They look gawky for a little while. Still no names but something will come along. Here are the rest of the photo's I promised. ![]() Lorelei and Wixi ![]() So far Lorelei seems to have a single friend because her overprotective mother won't even let the cat's be around her. This is her coming 2 half sister Indi. I found out she also likes her sister for another reason. ![]() Her sister has a better fly swisher! Plus also helps her sister doesn't kick at her or bite at her like some of the other mares will do. ![]() Another of her going to water with some of the mares and mom is tow. ![]() Here is another one of the new filly and her mom Sheri. ![]() My beautiful naturally shiny Darla. This is what grass and water can do for you. ![]() Last but not least. Part of my herd on a beautiful sunny day.
