Question Newborn and flies

Hi, We just had our first ever foal born on the farm July 1st. She's a beautiful little sorrel paint filly. She's doing fine except for flies bothering her. All the fly applications that I have checked out at our local horse supply warn not to use on pregnant or nursing mares or on foals under 12 weeks of age. That rules out both my mare and the foal (Jubilee). Does anyone know of a product I can use?

My mommy and baby would be forever grateful!

Yes, there something poison in it, but I don't know what it is called. I do know it makes them sick.

I am sure you can find something. Sorry that I couldn't help,
Here is a website, usually all safe. I have one, but I have to go out and see what brand it is. It said can be used dogs, cats, horses, something.

Get you some baby bug off. My friend uses that on her foals. Don't know how safe it is, but it is good for human babies. It helps the foals she says.

Hey BW - does she use this on her mare as well. If not, what would you suggest using on the mare while she is nursing?

Thanks everyone. I've moved them both into the barn for now until I can get something. The pasture is where the flies are so bad. I'll try the skin so soft and put it on both mare and filly and see how it works. It's got to be better than nothing at all.

she sprays her mare like always. With Pyranah Fly Spray, Light mist. MOstly hard core on the legs. does not spray the belly.

She also says, dont use fly blankets on momma. She lost a baby to a blanket. Was playing, got caught, and busted a leg!!
