Newbie

Hi All,

I'm Kim from North Carolina. I've been lurking around the boards for a few weeks and decided to register and introduce myself. I've just recently started riding a few months ago thanks to my wonderful roommate. Needless to say, I was instantly addicted and have been getting up at 5 am all summer to go riding 5 days a week. I have the fortune to be riding an 18hh percheron gelding and we have quickly become best friends - and I've only fallen off of him once -ouch. I also usually help ride and exercise many other horses at the barn so I've gotten to experience several breeds...but the percheron is by far my favorite.

I've also recently begun helping my roommate handle the two stallions (a QH and an egyptian arabian) at the barn that she trains and shows. Obviously I don't ride them but have been lucky enough to help longe and work them and basically play jack-of-all-trades at shows. The roommate is also adopting a mustang soon so that should be tons of fun and learning too.

I've found this forum to provide invaluable knowledge and while I don't understand everything, that's why I'm here...to just learn, learn, learn. I have one more year of college and then hopefully I will be in a position to get my own horse!

Thanks in advance to all for sharing your knowledge and putting up with what will likely be some stupid questions from this novice

Welcome to the forum! It sounds like you are getting a good start with information on all parts of horse activities, not just riding, which is great to see!
