LOL but she wasn't on very much oat at all-- I think just one flake for lunch.

I think I will start by going to all alfalfa and the ranitidine. I can't cut out the TC Lite yet without switching it with something else because I need her to get the ranitidine. She does need quite a bit of "stuff" to mix in her supplements, and the pellets of the TC Lite make it tough because I haven't been able to soak it.

just replace the amount of TC Lite with same amount of alfalfa pellets since the TC Lite is the one BIG change to her diet... I need to check that ingredient list again

Her overall diet was completely changed LOL. The oat hay is the only constant. I'd say adding alfalfa instead of timothy is quite a change in itself!

yeah and that very well could be your problem ...

nothing in the feed besides alfalfa to cause a issue with most horses .

Generally when you raise protein, it's done 1 of 2 ways - alfalfa, soy, or both.

Both of those are not-uncommon allergens. So yes, it's VERY hard sometimes to raise protein levels, with "normal" feedstuffs, without making those sensitive horses nuts. I have a friend who has 3 horses - 2 of them cannot have any alf or soy. At all. Not even the amount found in 1oz of a vit/min supplement.

I know you were probably speaking more in general, but does this sound like "alfalfa nuts" with my mare? LOL. I don't feel like she is going to burst, take off, or that she is a bundle of energy. Not in the least.

I took a video on my phone of her in the crossties, and got some condition shots. Jordana, don't shoot me, but I had to put her in the roundpen today She was being a real butt, I'm waiting on my girth, and there was no one else at the barn...I didn't really want to get on her bareback, but she did need to work. Can't turn out in the arena, and didn't want to just chase her around her paddock. I put her in there also to see if she just needed to "burn her wheaties" like an "alfalfa nuts" TB LOL

Though I do think her topline is looking a bit better, and 50% of the time she actually was trotting around long and low as opposed to completely inverted. Conditioning is sort of taking a backseat to this issue...

I guess I'm just merging all my threads together?

Sort of a big update...The trainer at the barn called me as I got to the barn and was asking if I was planning on going to the little county fair show in August. I told her we'll have to see how Miss Thing is doing, and that I wanted to start treating her for ulcers. Her response, "Yeahhh, that's probably the right thing to do." She wholeheartedly agreed with me and the fact that she likely has ulcers and that her vet could drop off some ranitidine if I needed him to.

When I put my mare in the crossties, the trainer's mom was working with a horse next to me. Mariah did her usual poop in the crossties once, twice...Then the third time, it was what looked like water (clear liquid) plus the solids. The trainer's mom told me how her gelding was acting stressed and pooping a lot when they'd haul out to lessons, and acting like Mariah, so they were thinking ulcers too. She was like, "Let me show you what we put him on! It was really cheap." She pulled out a thing of ranitidine LOL. They only fed him 1500gm (he's a 16.1ish TB) twice a day, and it really helped. I found that funny

Didn't get a chance to go to Wal-Mart, Target, or Costco...Need to borrow my dad's membership card. They are all pretty close together so I figured I'd just get them all done in one sweep.

One sec, I'll get pictures/video up...
