*New Idea....Please give me YOUR opinions*

Ok here is another one of my odd ideas........lol. BUT, anyway, I was thinking of a way the other day to help me make some extra money and help me pay the bills. I came up with this.....to buy an older very experienced lessons horse and give lessons at my barn right now which is very big into lessons and little kids being around and then half lease her out to somebody. Does that sound like it would be feasible? If not completely to you please give me some more ideas that would be feasible. Because if I made the half lease half of her board and then had say 4 lessons a week that would be $400/month which would pay the rest of her board and more than half of Skye's board. I think that it would be fun and if it didn't work out then I could just sell her or WHOLE lease her out to somebody. Tell me what you think!

I think its a good idea, but make sure you know what your doing before you teach someone. Also make sure the lesson horse is in good condition. Good enough to be worked everyday, which it will be since a leaser will be coming out.

BW is right though. It probably wont make any extra money. You would then have double bills in all horse stuff. Youd also have to buy helmets for the lessoh kids, and some kind of insurance would be a good idea.

IT would be fun though

Don't you need a coach's certification before you can teach?
Make sure you know exactly what you're doing before you teach. Try planning out each lesson and what you're going to do. If something goes wrong, you might get some unwanted angry parents calling you.

Insurance is a big thing! I had to get insured before I could teach. Teaching lessons is a lot of fun. Talk to you tainer maybe she has a horse or two you could use to teach lessons on.

First of all, there's insurance.

Second of all, there's a teaching certificate you need.

Third of all, who will pay board, feed, vet & farrier care...

Unfortunately you won't make ANY money.
Instead, why don't you work at your current stable mucking stalls? Cleaning other people's tack? It's hay season - help with haying!

Are you good with a sewing machine? Make little bags (grooming bags, ect.) and sell them. Or, get a real job LOL.

Ummmmmm too bad I have TWO real jobs! lol I am working my tail off and I figured that that would just help out and ALSO, there is "lesson" helmets already at the barn for lesson kids and three people already give lessons there that don't have a certificate and they just have the people sign a waiver and they don't need to pay for insurance. Everything runs very smoothly.

What do you mean who would pay for vet/farrier/dentist? I would, I'm the owner.
