I respectfully disagree. My black babies (both of them DNA Tested Ee aa) were born solid dark black...no mousy color no light black. Out of a brown mare and a gray stud, neither turned gray.

The OP's filly is gorgeous. Does anyone else see that heart on the left side of her neck? I love her face marking!

She is BEAUTIFUL!!!!! I don't think she will go gray, but you will be able to tell by summer at the latest. If the hair around her eyes goes gray, then she will gray. I think she will stay black. I love her!!

What a cutie patootie! What an amazing story, I am glad you finally got a baby, and what a beautiful one! You will have to keep us updated with pictures as she keeps growing. I can't wait to see what color she ends up being

How old are they? That photo doesn't look that dark to me... especially for a horse that tested 'aa'.

Same here. Not to mention it is not 100% but most times. Most times the closer the foal is to adult color the more likely it is for them to gray.

As acc and RMT said, your foal here is obviously black, but not jet-black like most black-to-turn-gray horses are born, that's the difference. She is mousy/light black enough to be fairly certain to not turn gray. There really is a difference - the black-to-turn-gray horses are born BLACK.

The foal I posted was, I think, 2-3 weeks old in that pic. Here is a pic of her full sister, also Ee aa just after she finished drying:
