I thought i would repost this in the horse rescue.adoption section, I'm hoping ill get more replies. These horses need to find homes asap!!! It's very important. I was just wondering if any of you knew about retirement homes for horses in pa( this would be the best place), maryland, nj, de, or ny. Any info you guys could give asap would be great. Thanks so much! |

Sure i'll try to add pictures later on, but one horse is a qh who is 30 years old and the other is a tb in her 20's these two horses have been together for over 12 years. So we want to try our best to keep these girls together. They were used in a therapy program, for the past couple of years, before that the qh was working out west at a ranch and the tb was a polo pony, Slyvester stallone( not sure how to spell that) actually owned the tb, years ago. They are sound on and off. Sadly they are no longer useful to the program, and we can not get any more horses unless we some of the other horses leave (due to the person the land is being leased from) These are really sweet, quiet horses and we want to try to find them great homes. but we really need to find them home quickly.

Here are some links, some of these may take retired horses. http://horsewelfare.8k.com/rescues.html http://www.savehorses.com/links.html Are there any therapy riding programs in your area? They at times will take older horses to use for therapy.

Isn't ther some big retirement place in PA? Or am I thinking of another state out there? I assume (and hope) that the owners don't want to put these oldsters in a home where they would be risked going to slaughter? I'll try to come up with the retirement home out there- as I remember- there is a fee, but I don't remember much of it...Deb

Candy- I found the site I was looking for- one of them, anyway. It is Last Chance Farm, in Pinegrove, PA- they want to make sure you don't confuse them with Last Chanc Ranch Rescue, in Quakertown, PA- something about the latter one not being so good. There is a monthly boarding fee- reasonable. I will still look for the one time fee place. I Googled horse sanctuary Pennsylvania, and got tons of sites!! Good Luck- they need a rest of life home!
