This is Stormy she came to us 8-2008

Stormy at her best time, with weight & semi pain free

It has bin a little over a year, Stormy has bin going down hill & she is in more pain over the last 2 weeks, she will no loger eat off the ground, and has olny eating hay for the few day's.

This pic shows how her back started to hump up, its much worse now

We Love her so much, and have to do what is best for her,
Her hocks are swollen, her back is out of wack ( she had a baby every year most of her life no food & she paid the price to have a healthly babys, that sob will pay one day, every thing comes back to ya ) She had eye injury's that were never treated, on top of that she also has moon blindness. So we are giving her & us time for good by's no more meds no more eye drops, just some stress free day's before she goes to rest - Pain free for once in her life. We had hoped this day would of never came, but we just couldnt get her better.

This was a 3 year old paint/arab cross I picked up for free last fall. I had been told about her so I drove out to see her just out of curiosity. She was tied to a tree in their backyard (she wouldn't stay in their 2' single strand electric fence). Severely underweight, covered in scrapes and wire cuts. I don't really consider her a "rescue" more of an upgrade. I had the vet out, said she looked great, just underdeveloped. One of her cuts came within 1/2" of severing a tendon.

Very sweet girl, put some weight on her and I rehomed her this spring (she was way too small for me to break).

My rescues

Turtle (Who now is enjoying life with another HGS member and doing FAB)

Sally. The day I got her.

She is now a fat toad.

How about you do a collage on Older horses. I know alot of us have before and afters on the older ones who were skinny because people just chalked it up to age. I have afters of both Turtle and U.S. Sally is only 5 so she wouldn't qualify.

Or maybe just fat and sassy older horses. Enlightening people to the fact that the older horse does not have to look like a nag close to death would be a good service to the horse world.

Wow PinkJumper, that close up of Poker's neck is awful! It's extreme. He looks great now though! Excellent before an after.
