![]() | Need Help With Name For New BLM Mustang Hello. I just adopted a BLM Mustang yearling colt. We have had him just over a month and I still haven't figured out a name for him. I thought maybe you guys could come up with some cool Mustang names. I am leaning towards nature and western names. The first month we had him, we had a lot of strong thunderstorms...so something along those lines might be fitting as well. He is sorrel with a white blaze and two white hind socks.![]() |

Oops, yup. I meant to put that in my post, but I had a toddler chatting non-stop in the background...tends to make me forget what I am doing sometimes. He was caught in the Divide Basin in Sweetwater County, WY. Thanks, Jen | |

| Senior Member+ | Call him Sweetwater Blaze! or Lightning Blaze! or Sweetwater's Storm....He's really cute, and has some really sturdy legs and feet, I doubt he will ever take a lame step in his life! Mustangs tend to have great feet! Congrats on your new mustang! Cathy

| Senior Member+ | Wow I sure see quarterhorse in that mustang. Defintely a product of cross breeding in the wild. Thats probably a good thing as his genetic make up will be more diverse. Very handsome guy. He is a native of Wyoming, that is cool. How about a name to honor the indian tribes of Wyoming? Arapaho Arikara Bannock Blackfeet Cheyenne Comanche Crow Dakota Kiowa Nez Perce Pawnee Sioux Shoshoni UTE Or how about: medicine man Kicking Bear Sitting Bull White eagle Best of luck naming with your new boy. |

![]() | Thanks for all the compliments on my new boy and name suggestions. I am hoping he will get a little bit of height. He was the tallest of the yearlings that were being offered. And he had the sturdiest looking legs. I have had him 6 weeks and his feet still look great...nice tough hooves. A few other names that have been suggested. What do you guys think of these? Wyoming's Dust Devil (aka Diablo) Sweetwater Maverick Sweetwater Cyclone Phoenix Red Oak Fire Hawk Sweetwater's Crimson Hawk Koda (means friend) Storm Chaser Lightning (McQueen) - this was suggested by my 3 year old son Rimrock Jasper Sweetwater's Amaretto Sunset (Rhett for short) Decisions...decisions...I like some of those that you guys suggested too...I just don't know what fits.
