The pictures arent coming up for me. How bad is the injury? Would putting him down be better off for him? I just had to put someone else's down the other day so I'm still in the mood to discuss this option if it is necessary.

I would definately be on the phone with animal control if the owner isn't willing to take care of that wound. It looks horrible. In terms of what you can do? Has the owner given you permission to try and treat the colt? If he hasn't, I would unfortunately as hard as it is, stay away and let AC deal with it.

injury

Is that bone? If animal control no help, contact your state agricultural inspector asap.

Antibiotics for sure needed, and hosing, area wouldn't have stitched well, but good grief.

Let us know what is going on.

That is bone.

I would call the AC, and call them now. This poor little boy needs some medical attention immediatly.

It's hard to tell exactly what is going on from the pictures....but I would be concerned about it! Especially about infection getting into the joint.
