Need a good excuse

To get out of my great aunt's funeral tomorrow.

Anyone know of any 24 hour mystery diseases I can magically get tonight?

I hate funerals I'd rather remember someone by the memories I have, than sitting there dealing with my family who I never see except at funerals or weddings. Or have my mother and one of her cousins arguging over who's daughter has done the best at riding the last competition season. Argh!

I'd rather remember my Aunty Bun as my cool aunty who fed me on fresh cream buns and taught me to play the piano than to sit through a dreadful funeral service.

Sorry to hear about your great auntie. I know where your coming from not wanting to go. Just say you've got the 24hr bug. Vomiting & the trots, no one can argue with that .

I think if you explain that reason, everyone should understand.

Though if you need an extra excuse, there are some REALLY bad tummy bugs going around Though I don't want to jinx you!

Sorry about you losing your Aunt, it just hasn't been your year so far

Better get back down here soon so I can get you drunk...I mean happy

You could always say just as you was leaving the house to go to the funeral, there was an emergency.....something pertaining to the horses, and it was something that needed your immediate attention, and that it prevented you from attending the funeral??? I know how you feel tho....I don't want my last memory of someone to be seeing them for the last time laying in a casket. Sorry about your Aunt. Hope you are handling it OK.

Well I do know the bus timetable to get down there

It has been a bad year, but at least this we knew was coming She was 89, so lived a very good long life.

I think my excuse is going to end up being my hair...it kind of turned orange and black this afternoon with what was supposed to be a "light blonde" hair dye Its looking slightly orange still.

My great grandmother died recently, and I was in your shoes. I wanted to remember how I remembered her, not laying in a casket. But then I went and realized "oh, wait, this is a southern funeral"

We told funny stories, and after the funeral serviice we had fried chicken, corn , rolls, and everything. It was sad, but we at least had fun.

I'm with Cavalier on this one. Explain how you truely feel and they should understand. I'm sorry for you loss. I know how it feels to lose a loved one. My mother-in-law passed away last may, then my stepmother passed away last july, and then a cousin of mine passed away last november. It wasn't an easy year for me last year. So you can imagine I just about had enough and just didn't want to deal with death anymore. So I know exactly where you're coming from.

Sorry for your loss.

I love my great uncle recently, freak sudden blood pressure drop and he was home alone, didnt find him in time..

He was the best!

I didnt want to go to the funeral, but im so glad i did. I met heaps of his old jockey mates, (he was a race horse owner/trainer) and met some of my other family. And hearing people do the speaches, i realised i only knew a fraction of the man her was... I was glad i went..

See how you feel. Maybe you'll have a change of heart?
