Myristol Joint Supplement - Great stuff!!

A lot of people have been asking about what type of joint supplements are the best for the money, I thought that I would share my experienced with Myristol.

Myristol is a supplement that you can only get from your vet, it isn't cheap, but it is incredible stuff. I started feeding to my horse about a month ago and I am already seeing a huge difference. Things that he used to struggle to do - lead changes, collection for more than two circles in a row, sliding stops, ect - he is doing like they are easy.

We have been feeding it to a 3 yo OTTB that has severe arthritis in his knee. After two months of it, he is no longer lame, and a block shows that he is feeling 100% better and can even be ridden lightly, where as before he was basically destined to be a pasture pet.

My vet told me about a roping horse that he had come in that was three-legged lame with a spur on his coffin bone and they were debating putting him down. He suggested that they try Myristol just to see, and two weeks later they were roping off of him.

I was pretty skeptical about this stuff when I started, but I said I would try it, and you wouldn't believe the changes in our horses. If anyone has a horse that has joint problems, OCD, arthritis, or anything of the sort, I really suggest that you do some research and try it.

Here's the website with a little more info about it's ingredients: http://www.myristol.com/index.html

I bought a big bulk thing of it that should last three horses about 5 months for $300. Which is a great deal. I started out buying the monthly supply for $67.

Do you use it?

I don't use it but I have heard of it.

$300 for five montsh for three horses isn't expensive at all. Thats only like $20 a month, which is less than a lot of other supplements.

Kiley-
Have you ever tried joint other joint supplements in any of your horses? I have an older gelding (with arthritic hocks) who I have tried on various supplements....the latest being Recovery EQ..which was pretty pricey. He has also been had Adequan and Legend injections...and I tried the Surpass topical creme. I just didn't see a difference in any of the products I tried. I would be very interested in learning about the Myristol.

I have actually tried all of the above. Adequan actually seemed to show a little bit of difference, but it didn't seem to help with his performance, it just kept him less stiff.

But this stuff, it actually seems to help with everything. My friend started using it on her gelding that has some joint issues and a bone spur on his coffin bone. He struggles to do flying changes, passage, even half pass. It took three weeks of using it before she saw results, but it was amazing. He just did everything she asked. No fighting, no arguing, he just did it.

After seeing that, and the success with the OTTB, I though that I might as well give it a try. It's not any more than the other supplements, so why not? And I had the same success. I couldn't believe it. Shotgun has been struggling to slide, it's like he just can't commit to sit. Last night he slid 14 feet. We measured and took pictures. One week ago I was happy with 2 feet. I can just tell that he feels better, he moves better, he isn't stiff and sore.

It's certainly worth a try. We have been telling a lot of our clients about it, so I think our vet gave us a pretty good deal on the big tub, but I would pay what ever I had to for it.

"One of the oldest joint supplements on the market is Cosequin. This company is one of the few that actually conducted research on it product, and that other companies have often borrowed that data and applied it to their own products, which might or might not have the same ingredients".
"They have in vitro studies that suggested the combination of glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate complemented one another and was more beneficial than either compound alone".
There is a seal on the supplement container that has "nasc"(National Animal Supplement Council), this lets the comsumer know they are buying from a reputable manufacturer that has gone through an independent audit and has implemented specific standards and conformed to quality system requirements".
Bottom Line:
"There are many people who believe these oral supplements are helping their horses, and maybe they are. However, until there are scientific, repeatable studies done utilizing large number of animals, horse owners really dont know to what extent these products are effective".
"The best course of action is to talk to your vet about a complete treatment regime-Discuss options with your vet".

Shotgun, have you tried Cosequin also? I've used it with some success, but it's not having much effect on my mare because she hates sugar, so she'll only eat the cosequin in limited doses. (If I put the full recommended amount on her grain, she refuses to eat it.) Is it an oral supplement? How do you find it compares to cosequin both in financial commitments and performance?

I'm VERY interested to know more!
