Myler Combo Bit Options

I just got a myler combo bit. I used one a year ago on my ottb leased horse and I loved it so I thought I would stick it on my horse who loves to throw his head up and lock it so I have no control. The one I am borrowing is only a two shank and it has three rollers on it. today I rode in it like a snaffle with both cheakpieces and reins attached to the largest ring but he didnt listen to it so i moved the reins to the bottom ring and suddenly he listens to it! any ways I am wondering what other combinations people have used with the myler combos?
also normally he is ridden in a loose ring myler with one roller, should I buy a combo thats base bit is more similar to his regular loose ring?

I have used the standard mouthpiece with both 3 rings and 2 rings....I freakin LOVE THEM!!!!!!!! AHHHHH!!!!!!!! I miss mine! Since i can't use it in the show ring I don't use it to train anymore and my mom stole it from me..lol...she uses it on one of our other horses and of course it works amazing on him too!

yeah because of the showing issue i am thinking i will want to get the most similar legal myler possible. he likes his loose ring he is just pulling through it right now.

it def helped my guy to soften up quite a bit though. I worked him in it for about 6 months and he really changed the way he carried himself. Now, I ride in a very short shank Rubber Mullen mouth Tom Thumb and he is in heaven..lol...I have NEVER seen him drool so much as he doesn with this bit and he is so responsive in it...

he also did the same thing in his Myler eggbutt(the one legal for dressage) as your saying your guy does. he would just hang on it and work me to death...after working with the combo and then switching him to the rubber mouthpiece it was completely changed him.
