My yearling filly is licking!!!???

My yearling filly started licking me the other day. I thought maybe it was for the salt because she was licking my hand. But then she stared licking my coat and my husband's coat and my hair. WEIRD She has a salt block and I feed free choice mineral. Any ideas fom the group? Thanks guys.

I agree, she might just be discovering new things! You figure she just found her tongue and all these neat things to test it on! LOL

Blister is 7, and when we are in stressful situations (farrier, shows, etc) he will lick me constantly till he calms down. It is his "PASIFIER" lol..well, I guess I"M the pasifier.

Blistering Winds - that's funny!

I actually have a pacifier on my key ring, which is clipped to my belt loop whenever I'm out with the horses. I used to notice several of my horses, when really bored or nervous, would play with my keys, but I was worried they might cut their mouths on the edges, so my friend got me a pascifier and now my horses will suck on that! It seems to calm them and give them something to do if we have to wait for our turn to use the hose or if we're stuck waiting in a crowded area.
