shes very pretty and very thin. My mare was like that too. Cept not that thin and bloated so i thought she was fat. In winter you coud feel her ribs start to pop out and we increased her feed. Now she looks amazing. I bet urs will too.

Our mare was very thin after having her last foal.. the foal is now a yearling.. we upped her feed a little, but just the time off from nursing did wonders for her... she is 21 and now our "retired" BM...

you say shes pregnant now? certainly looks that way her belly has dropped to the floor!

I would up't her feed now and up it again once the foal is born. get some good fat on her hips and her spine.. i would also once the next foal is weaned to start very light lunging her gettin some muscle built up.

Good luck

Really you dont think she looked to thin? i could count all her ribs with out touching her and she had jersey hips sticking out you could see her face bones very prominatly (sp) She has gained some weight now and is getting light exercise. She has lost some weight due to a light colic but is doing much better. I do how ever think that my filly looks good she was a little ribby but that is foal thing, when they grow....

Yes, I see the improvement, even despite the difference in lighting. Her ribs were VERY visible when you got her, and while they are still too visible, they have started to get a covering. It takes a while.

yeah its hard to get the same lighting out in the pasture lol. I too think she needs more weight, i just dont think you should see their ribs that easily. My preferance lol. Not that i think they should be over weight either. I see it the most on her back it doesnt look like her hide was just pulled on her. Thanks for the input
