My new colt was born 11/1!

So I'm just going to brag a little on our new baby, who was born around 7 p.m. on November 1st.
Here's how it happened:
My mom & I went out to check on the mare, she was sweating, looked uncomfortable, and getting up and down frequently, so we pretty much knew she was in labor. After our observation, we turned the light out and went inside to start dinner, planning to come back out about 15 minutes later to check on her. Well, I got in the bath tub, and my mom went right back out with my baby sister, who wanted to see what was going on. Next thing you know, I hear there's a foal on the ground!!
My bath wasn't even full yet - that's how quick she had the darned thing!

Anyway, this is a special baby for all of us because both of his parents we've raised ourselves, and his sire was our first orphan foal who we regrettably sold and is now a gelding. Daddy has had some top ties in shows and is sired by WGC Pusher's Secret Weapon.
His dam is our Reserve WC SSH mare, and WC producer, who we call Leia. This is Leia's 3rd baby, the first is a filly who is a WC and Supreme champion and the second was a colt who was a Reserve WC.

Since his sire's name is "Pusher's Easy Breeze," we were thinking of naming him "Take it Easy" with his nickname being TIE.

As for color, he's clearly black tobiano, but since dad carries sabino, do you think TIE does too?

Here is TIE (excuse the mud, pics were taken after his first day out in the paddock!):

Here's mom:

Adorable

Wow, he's adorable. The dam looks exactly like my mare. He got pretty dirty in just his first day outside, but they all do

Splash and Sabino probably (along with Tobi)

Very cute!!!! Just what the doctor ordered, too!!!

Dad is definitely sabino + splash (along w/ tobi)

Baby has a blaze that looks sabino + splash to me, as well. But many folks might say it's sabino-only.

Congrats on a healthy, flashy, well-bred baby

I might have said sabino and tobiano only. HOWEVER... your baby is missing his chest shield. Not common of sabino + tobiano alone, VERY common of splash + tobiano. Now that I see the sire is definitely splash too (and also missing a large amount of his chest shield), yup.

CUTE!!!!

Splash removes (or partially) the chest shield on Tobis?

Hmmm.....I guess if a splash was "loud" enough that it would have tons and tons of chrome (like Gambling Man) and then you added Tobi to the mix....I could see why it would remove the chest shield that Tobi likes to keep in place.

But how does a minimally expressed or heterozygous Splash remove the chest shield.

Imagine each white pattern as a layer you can strip off. So the foal, who looks to be a minimal splash (judging by blaze shape, lack of blue eyes, and expression of sire and the dam being tobiano-only).......would have enough chrome from splash, that it would creep up to the front/chest area? (if you stripped tobi off of him)

Just trying to understand how Splash, in a quiet expression, can effect Tobi....

Very adorable!!
Out of curiosity- What did mom and dad show in to win their titles?
Sire must be a real gentleman to be ridden by such a young girl

I dunno... it just does. I don't think there is splash all the way up there per se. I just think maybe splash can sorta tell tobiano where and where not to go... kinda like pushing tobi's white around, as opposed to putting it's own there.

Virtually every time I've ever seen a missing chest shield, splash has been apparent.

Several of us have mentioned this a few times. I'm not sure how everyone explains it, but we all think along the same lines somehow (well, JB, RMT & I).
