Thanks!
Mom is a Spotted Saddle Horse Sport Horse (versatility) Reserve World Champion and both of her previous foals have Sport Horse world titles. However she is bred for performance, like the sire.
"Easy," the sire, is a real gentleman. He was already gelded in those photos, but he was mild-mannered enough even as a stud to carry beginners. He has been shown in Spotted Saddle Horse trail pleasure classes (judging on gaits only) and had really good ties at some of the really big shows, even with an amateur owner riding him in open classes. He's also a blue ribbon winner in Sport Horse.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments! We are so happy with him, especially how big and healthy he is.

The idea of splash actually never even crossed my mind, that is interesting, though. By the pedigree it's obvious where the tobi and sabino come from, but there's not really any evidence of splash, however it may well have been there and just not recorded. This mare's previous colt was marked the same as this one, but with not quite as wide a blaze on the face. IE, no chest shield. The sire of her last baby was a black tobiano 3/4 sibling to the sire of this colt, but I don't think he carried anything but tobiano - he also has a chest shield, but his baby with this mare didn't.
Is there any way maybe the splash could be coming from the mare?
Sorry, I'm not very educated on splash at all.

The mare may have it, but if she does, it's very minimal. The sire is very apparently splash though (that face white and eyes) so that's the more "logical" deduction, but not the only one.

Well, I learn something new everyday.
I did not realize they had "sport horse" classes for the walkers/gaited breeds!

A lot of people don't know that...
You'd be surprised at how competitive it is, too! Lots of fun, though

Congratulations! Gorgeous baby...love his markings. He looks like a pretty good sized colt already...stocky legs too!

Splash effects on Tobi pattern

Virtually every time I've ever seen a missing chest shield, splash has been apparent.

Several of us have mentioned this a few times. I'm not sure how everyone explains it, but we all think along the same lines somehow (well, JB, RMT & I).
Ah....okay, that makes sense Just something it "does" to Tobi. I'll buy that I just couldn't see it being the actual Splash White Pattern itself...disrupting the body color there.

So while we're on the splash subject, I have a few ?s I'd like to ask that I'll just add to this thread instead of starting a new one.

After what I've learned about splash today, I'm interested in hearing from other people (you all!) if it is likely these horses carry splash.

Here is my stallion:

He has been DNA tested homozygous for tobiano, but has no chest shield, also has one blue eye and the stripe/blaze, whatever you want to call his facial marking, as you can see by the pic.

This is his sire, WGC Colors in General (as you can see, his only black marking on his entire body is his head, and he also has a white nose):

And this is his mom, WC Generators Winning Colors:

Then there's this mare. I am sure she carries tobi, but does the lack of a chest marking mean she's carrying splash? The filly at her side is by a sorrel tobiano with chest shield.

And this is above mare's offspring with a tobiano/sabino stud. Is it likely this mare carries all 3 genes - tobi, sabino, and splash?

And finally, there's this filly. She has the same sire as my new colt, TIE, who everyone says carries splash (and I see how he can now). So most likely (probably) her sire carries splash. Here she is, with a good face shot b/c what's very strange about her is her face - her whole nose is pink, though her blaze only covers the top of her nose. As you can see by the 2nd pic, she has a hind stocking, her other hind leg has a sock and white spot on the cannon bone below the hock, and one front leg also has a white spot on cannon bone below knee. (Not sure if it makes a difference, but figured I'd point it out)

Here she is the day she was born, as you can see her whole nose looks white, and a shot of under the chin, the whole bottom of her chin is white & she has a white strip under her jaw:

This is the filly's mom just so you can see what's going on with her color, she is a bay tobiano:

1: Definitely. Blue eye is proof IMO.
2: Definitely. The lack of color on the body and that VERY bottom heavy face white, yup.
3: Same type of body white as 2. Face white is similar too. I think so here as well.
4: Interesting that she has no chest shield and the filly's sire did, but she doesn't. I don't see anything that screams splash, but the movement certainly makes me suspicious.
5: Definitely. It takes more than tobiano and sabino to cause this look IMO.
6: I don't really see anything on this filly that says splash to me. Possible exception of the white under her jaw. I dunno, this one could be all sabino.
7: Don't really see anything suspicious on this mare. Save for that right front. I wonder if she could be frame. That might say something about the filly. Hmmm.

Thank you for the input. These horses have had me confused for quite some time before now...
I thought the filly was all sabino too, but realizing the sire carries splash made me think twice.
Again, thanks for sharing the knowledge
