omg well there has been this whole fiasco about my brother (we will say josh) and his ex girlfriend and the mother of my nephew (we will say she is tanya) well, josh and tanya have been fighting over my nephew (we will say cody )for ever and tanya wanted to take my nephew to scottland. my brother refused to write the letter and sign the papers. becasuse tanya and her new boyfriend own a house in scottland so we assumed they wouldnt be coming back. well their flight was sceduled to leave june 20th. my nephew wasnt at school june 20h, 21st, so yesterday my OTHER nephew rode his bike over to his house and my nephews moms boyfriends annswered and my nephew was like can cody come out and play and the moms boyfriend was like nope, he is in scottland. my brother had to sign the passport and write a letter allowing him out of the country. well my brother went to the police station to file a report of kidnapping and the moms boyfriend was there talking to the mom who said when cody was two my brother and her signed a thing that said if there was ever a disagreement she got the last say on him. this guy is like my little brother. we were always really close. we are only two years apart. i love him like a brother. omg i can believe he is gone, and i may never see him again. so if anyone in scottland sees a woman with 5 kids ages 12-4 beat the living snot out of her for me ok?!? i think i might have a pic of him actually, one sec.ok i have two. the last thing i did with him was to go to a movie and out for supper, so that is at least nice to know that that was the last thing i did with him.

thank you guys. i cant believe this is happening. we had a feeling that she took him out, but now that we know for sure. it seems to be sinking in even more than ever.

Firstly, please forgive my editing but I had to do it so I could read it.

I am sorry that this has happened. I do not know if your government has an extradition treaty with Scotland, if they do there is a good chance of his being returned to your country and the mother facing charges. That is what would happen here in Australia.

I hope that you get to see him again, he looks like a good kid.

This is not to judge anyone but that was a pretty thoughtless. Taking a kid overseas without the proper documentation can be a terrible hassle even without allegations of kidnapping.
Nowadays the police tend to take such allegations seriously (guilty-until-proven-innocent) especially in Europe where pedophilia is becoming a serious concern. Hope it doesn't happen but your nephew's mother (or whoever has him) may find themselves terribly hassled when the police spots them.

I don't quite understand WHY your brother HAD to sign the documentation allowing his son out of the country?? I honestly don't see a court in Canada enforcing something like that, especially when the mother has property in another country and there is a chance of the child not being returned. Taking a child out of Canada is a pretty serious hard thing to do now a days.

I'm not saying that your lieing, not at all, but I do wonder if they gave you all the correct information.

I have had some dealings with immigration here in Canada (long story) and had to put some steps in place to have my son protected from leaving the country. Kidnapping in Canada by a parent is something that our law enforcement does not take lightly.

Mona, I do not think he signed the documents that would allow him out of the country, otherwise he would not be able to report a kidnapping.

At least, that is the way I read it and put in the edit.

If he has signed them, then he has no recourse.
