Your mares bag looks fine for how far along she is. At 320 days, your mare can have her baby safely. I would definately start watching her closely. She looks like she has a little time but you never know. Good luck

Yep your right, these mares udders can go up and down and up and down for a month or sometimes more before they actually foal, she still needs to soften up at the croup/tail head more, she has not dropped yet, and she shows no signs of foaling yet Thank goodness. just thought I would share with others who may have a mare in foal or are thinking about it. Its nice to have a forum of shareing with the experienced shareing with those who are new and maybe looking for information and support. Thank you for taking the time to share your insights.

Well bourbnj I see the udder in your picture of your mare, and yes it looks like a beginning udder, but every mare is different I have had mares develop an udder 6 weeks before foaling bigger then your mare was last year, then others that had much less development two days before foaling then bag up fully 3 hours before foaling streaming milk, every mare is different there is no hard and fast rule of how much bag a mare should have at any given time before foaling, but it is nice to get a picture to show others just how different they can be.
