That isn't nice of her to use your things at all. Even if she was short of time and saw yours first, she should have had her own in a specific place so she wouldn't feel like she could just use yours. Though, because you are friends, she might've figured that she was just going to borrow them and return them. But obviously she didn't and she should have told you she was using them! I'm glad you moved your horse.

Put everything in a locked tack box or trunk from now on.

OMG! I would be so mad!

Once when I was still boarding Sunny, I bought him this new halter for shows (until I got a custom made one) and so the barn owners didn't put it on him for turnout I kept it in my tackbox..well one day I come in a find the halter on another horses stall! I was so mad! But I looked over the halter and it wasn't too dirty so I just put it back in my tack box. And I coulda SWORE someone was using my grooming stuff, but whatever. *Shrugs*

Yes, it would be a fire hazard, but I had keys to everything, feed, stalls (if locked) in case of fire or emergency. Plus, the locked up horses were only locked at night, day time I turned them out or exercised or groomed. Whatever was their scheduled iteniary(sp). So basically I wore 2 lbs of keys around my waist at all times.

ah and most recently at arbutus horse show i went to get kolas bucket from the front of her stall to grain her in the morning and it was gone, i looked all up my row for it, and finally went to the other side. lo and behold this girl (who trains/sells horses in pitt meadows and i do not like or respect at all) had taken it and it was on her tack trunk out front of her stall, like *** who does that? (i had previously leased a horse from her for a summer and had much trouble with her, lyed to me a few times etc)

Happens ALL the time - it's usually school kids (sorry to give us a bad rap - but I was a lesson-monkey once ) just grabing what's available, if you're really worried about stuff being borrowed make sure it's all labelled (I know that sucks) and locked at the end of the day. If it's a problem just but a "_______'s brush" or "do not touch" on your stuff too :\

There is a huge difference between someone borrowing a curry because their's in M.I.A. and TAKING your medical supplies with out replacing them (IMMEDIATELY - especially if you couldn't/didn't ask) *sigh* it's really just part of boarding.

The day I drove up to my old barn and saw someone riding in my saddle was the day I started locking my tack trunk. You really can't trust everyone in a boarding situation because inevitably, someone will mistake your stuff for theirs or borrow it and forget to give it back.

I keep my tack in my horsetrailer. If it becomes a problem for me, I can lock the tack room door.
