    Question My horse has a white line at the top of her hoof

    Hi, My horse has a white line at the top part of her hooves were it meets the hair. I didnt notice it till today because she has been out in the field and her hooves where muddy.I noticed it when i cleaned them.Its all four hooves. What is this? What can i do about it?

    Sounsd like the band. It is normal. Got a picture?

    When the hoof is moist, you will see it more clearly.
    Nothing like seeing nature from the back of a horse!

    Her hoof was wet when i seen it but I have never noticed it before.I dont have any pictures

    its the coronary band, completely normal.

    Yes, the coronary band is at the top of the hoof. This is where the new hoof growth starts and continues to grow out downwards towards the ground. If a horse gets an injury to the coronary band it can affact the proper growth of the hoof wall.

    its normal all horses have it well at least my horse does. i thnk ure talkin about a coronary band.

    It would be nice to see a pic of it if you can manage it. My guess is that it's below the coronary band, and is new hoof growth that shows a feed change awhile before. I can't remember what my farrier said it's called though. I notice that about 6 months after my horses have moved into the winter pasture and are on dry hay after being on grass from April to October.
