My greenie can JUMP!

Soooo I have this 9 y/o TB mare named Sierra. She's rather green due to living wild for 6 years before my coach bought/broke her. I bought her b.c i like her, but now have to sell her.

Anyway.

We've always known she can jump, as she was quite the escape artist when she first came. She jumped out of a paddock, she jumped out of a stall(a stall guard was being used)....but we'd never tried much undersaddle. Until today, I'd been keeping her down to 2' and 2'3" because she rushes a lot. Recently, though, she's been REALLY good about staying relaxed and responsive over fences, so I decided to try her a bit higher. After a warm-up on the flat and over our usual height, i popped them up to 2'6" - 2'9".she jumped it all easily, and LOVED it. I'd really like to try her over some 3'-3'3" stuff as i'm positive she could do it, but I want her to be better on the flat and get used to this height first. Also, I don't want to over-face her, so I'll stick to 2'6"-2'9" for awhile.

The thing is,though...she jumps this stuff WELL. she doesn't get all strung out or anything over the jumps. On the flat, she gets really hollow and gross, but as soon as I put her towards a jump, she rounds up a bit more, and starts to actually use herself. No, it's not perfect, but it's enough to make for a decent-looking course.

I'm thinking she would make a really nice jumper. She can jump high, she hardly EVER hits jumps, she's got a motor on her, and she can do pretty sharp turns(those would get better with some schooling). She's also really brave and honest.

I wish I could keep her! My local show circuit has jumper shows the sundays after the hunter ones...my hunter would be no good at jumpers, but sierra could very easily be excellent. I want to try and talk my parents into keeping her for another year or so...I mean if I can eventually show her in some 2'6"-3' jumpers(they have a 3' mini prix that could be a lot of fun with her some day), her price would go up a few thousand.

I dunno. I just wanted to post this, as I'm really excited.

We're going to get some pictures of her over the higher stuff next week
