My first time doing REAL jumping!

Yesterday was my riding lesson. Since Wildfire was out of comission, I rode Moses, who is this sweet gray Arab. At least I think he's Arab, but he doesn't have that typical "Arab face" so maybe he's part Arab. Anyway.
Yesterday was when I really started jumping for the first time. I mean, yeah, I've done ground poles and tiny crossrails, but yesterday was actually jumping, as opposed to the horse just taking a large stride over a little crossrail. My instructor said I needed to get a stronger base of support, but that will come with time. I also need to stay in 2 point a little longer after the jump.
Moses and I di have on really good jump, though. It just felt right...I can't believe I've been riding this long without jumping! Not that it was my choice, or anything, but...wow, it feels like I've been missing a lot.
Just wanted to share that...

That's great!!!!! I don't think i could live without jumping, I went through jumping deprivation yesterday because my trainer is away so i wasn't allowed to jump red. You'll learn to love jumping and it sounds like you already have. How long have you been riding?

Congrats! That's exactly how I felt when I first started doing "real" jumps like that. Welcome to the addiction.

You're right, I do love it! I've been "really" riding for about a year and a half now. I rode for a summer with another instructor before that, but didn't learn much. She usually teaches the kids with disabilities, so I think she underestimated what we could do. But then I switched to the instructor I ride with now, and I've learned a ton.

He has an AWESOME canter, he always picked it up right away. And he was smooth over the jumps for the most part.
