My colt rocks!!!!

Just a little brag on my coming 5yo and a slap in the face to all those who give me a hard time and tell me that I get my colts too broke...

I took him to his 2nd show (1st big IBRA show ever) and he won me money in the 2-D!!! This was the 2nd time I EVER asked for speed. He clocked a 16.3. Then, he clocked a 16.4 in the Jr horse class. Didn't place b/c there were only 8 entries, but I'd say he's daaaang consistent for a COLT! He got by the 1st a little on the 2nd run, but I figured he would b/c I pushed him pretty hard. He didn't get by is far though MUHAHAHAHA!

He's on a ROLL! Yeah baby!!!! I forgot what it was like to have a consistant, competitive horse. I've been riding coltgs for SOOO long. I'm glad I finally found one nice enough to keep around

Cool stuff

(No such thing as "too broke"). I love the D-system. I wasn't even pushing my 5 yo (started late on barrels) and still managed to keep up in the 2D averages all year with the other futurity horses (who were being pushed a lot harder and appeared a heck of a lot less trained [most muscled them around the barrels]). The D-system rocks.

And I'm not just saying that cause I'm a county director of NBHA... >_>

Congratulations! I, too, have a 5 year old whom I'm hoping to do barrels with.

He is super green right now, but spins on a dime against the slightest leg touch, stops like he hit a brick wall, and in the open, hauls butt.

I'd like to slow him down a bit, but that will come with more training. (I hope)

You're obviously a great trainer and rider - and how do you get a horse "too broke" - I'd dure like to know!

Thanks!! I'm not sure how you get them too broke, but no 1-D/open horse I've ever been on is as broke as my colt hehe

No pictures!?
Dumb question, but by colt do you mean ungelded? Lol.

Anyways, great job! He sounds like he's got tons of untapped potential. Good luck with him.

Ohhh okay. I call young geldings colts too, but it seems like a lot of people only call them colts if they're ungelded.
