You can also DNA test the semen left over. It wouldn't take very much for a DNA test on Semen, .25cc would be a ton of DNA. You could swab the conatiner the semen came in and get enough to confirm it's the correct stallion.

Since all of their other stallions are grey, if this baby starts greying out then we KNOW we have a problem. Regardless, I will be verifying parentage - that's for that suggestion.

Also, these are totally different people than last year! That's the crazy thing! The ownership of Capone switched up between these two breeding seasons. We wanted the refund rather than breeding to Capone at all, but Corrine had dropped off the planet, as I mentioned. We were presented with a take-it-or-leave-it situation where we could either invest a bit more and get a foal or lose everything that we have had so far.

Yes, there is a LFG. We made sure of that. Their definition in the contract was vague (just "live foal") and we changed it to "live foal standing and nursing unassisted."

Poor guy. He is just so flippin' talented!

(Though, I must admit, if I could turn back the clock, I would have gone with Windfall II.)

A $2500 stud fee is an awful lot to write off as a loss Especially considering what you must have spent on Penny & Vaughn while they were at Alamo Pintado.

Suzie signed a contract with a different stallion "owner." Like she said, that SO vanished into thin air with all monies paid by Suzie, and the actual OWNER of the stallion, fresh out of jail was "nice" enough to honor the old contract, somewhat. Or did you and he create a new contract altogether Suzie?

I really think you should post this on COTH, and definitely get the frozen semen. Just have to hope it's not terrible quality Then you already have the straws, and no longer have to worry about these crazy people.

Sigh, even Jorge thinks you should have gone with Windfall...he likes his warmbloods with lots of TB

I'm so sorry again Suzie...I am starting to be a little relieved that I didn't end up with a preggo mare!

I have to say I prefer Capone - I like his movement and jump better . I think this baby will be worth it!!

Just to torture you, there's a neat video of Robert Dover riding Windfall on the Eventrider website. It was at an event for Darren. You can see flashes of what Klimke saw in Windfall when he wanted Windfall for the Dressage team.

I think Capone was still a good choice for your mare. His situation is unfortuneate, but try frozen--she can't really deny you since the fresh shipping was such a mess.

Best wishes, fingers crossed...

OMG I am so so sorry that you have to go through that. The owner of that stallion is such a whack job, it's really really unfortunate you have to have dealings with him. And Corrine......she is no saint herself, don't forget the two of them were 'together' for quite some time, that is how she ended up tending for the horses while he was in prison. She is still around BTW......
Again, I am really sorry you have to deal with this. It sucks. Please do post this on the COTH forum, I'm sure everyone there would like to have a read about this.
