My baby's second hunter show

Okay, so I had to post these pics. These are from Tripp's second hunter show last weekend. He is only 5 and has only been jumping a few months. He is showing in the little stuff right now, but shows a lot of promise. Im just proud of him, he is a homebred that almost died several times as a yearling and is sound after three knee surgeries as a baby thanks to a WONDERFUL surgeon. Thanks for looking and letting me be a proud momma!

If that horse had three knee surgeries and is jumping nowadays I think I might want the name of that surgeon!!

Your horse looks awesome and very very handsome.

And heeeey now, those little jumps look big to me! I'm not much of a huge jumper either. I'm fine with the itty bitty jumps!

He is handsome! Sounds like quite the story....what happened to him to require 3 surgeries?

The wonderful surgeon is Dr. Hay in NC right outside of Tryon. This poor guy went into kidney failure after his last surgery and did almost die. He had 80 liters of fluids IV a day for a week.

Just in case there is any concern of him jumping, he has been cleared by several vets to jump. His current x-rays look GREAT!!!

The jumps are only 2' at the show. He is schooling 2'6"- 2'9" at home. He absolutely loves it!

His other fave thing is working cows! He is a quarter horse, go figure. He is western pleasure bred on top (Zippo Pine Bar, Hotrodders Jet Set) and is cow and race bred on the bottom (Doc Bar and Skipper W).

Thanks everyone for the kind comments.

Readers Digest version:

Born 10.2 hands out of a maiden 14.2 hand mare. Had a 45 degree rotation in his radius and his radius and carpals were not touching, so when he would grow he would crush his carpals and be a cripple.

1st Surgery (still nursing on momma)- went in and had a infection in his knee capsule. Came home on antibiotics. Started putting glue on shoes on the front feet. Rotated the lower leg to a 5-10 degree rotation.

2nd surgery (still on momma)- went in to have hardware put in. Came home reacted to drugs got ulcers and UTI.

3rd surgery (yearling)- went in to have hardware removed. Came home, reacted to drugs, went into kidney failure. Had 80 liters of IV fluid a day for a week. Had blood drawn twice a day to watch levels. Almost had a blood transfusion.

Lots of time, sweat and tears later....he is a healthy (cleared by several vets), happy, sound boy! He has a super personality and is a very neat horse!

He is 15.3 now out of a 14.2 mare, 15.2 stallion. He is my little boy!

He was started VERY slowly and was not started till he was a late 3 year old.
