Just an update on this with pictures from yesterday - her dorsal stripe did not disappear when she shed out....my brother is just delusional or something...lmao. Oh...delusional and lazy because he decided that instead of paying the fees to get her and the mare tested and the colors changed on their papers...he opted to pay one fee to change her name from My Adeas Dun to simply My Adea.

IDK - I think he still believes that she is possibly a dun, but just considers it more trouble than it is worth (to him) to go through the motions to get the mares color proven/corrected/changed and likewise with the filly.

ETA - the brother that claimed that the dorsal stripe had disappeared is not the same brother that owns the horse. She was just at one brother's house working on her ground manners for a while - and he is the one that claimed the dorsal had disappeared and relayed it to me through the other brother....lol...confused yet?

She is beautiful and I do know of a mare with a similar dorsal and no dun in the pedigree so she would have to be tested to know for sure. I would say most definitely buckskin... she would need at least two other types of dun factor to be dun and I am not seeing them.

Yeah, well he doesn't care enough one way or the other to get the testing done. So we may never know....oh well.

However, this filly's dam is in foal to a black horse so if she has a grulla that would be a strong indicator that she is carrying the dun gene right? Then in order to get it registered correctly, they would have to get her tested and the color corrected on her papers anyway - right? If he is going to continue to breed the mare, I don't understand why he doesn't go ahead and get everything verified and corrected (if need be) on her papers. Otherwise, isn't he running the risk of a whole lineage of horses with incorrect color listed on their papers?
