He's a long 2yr old so he is still growing lol. He is actually in the middle of a growth spurt right now. Everytime he levels out he grows again lol.

I am going nice and slow and if he never barrel races then he never barrel races lol. I'm not going to make him do something he can't physical do right.

Thanks!

Thanks! If he never barrel races its ok too lol that's just the plan since he can out run everybody in the pasture and he already out turns my barrel horse in the pasture too lol. Stitch is VERY quick and VERY ATHLETIC!!! I need to have the camera on me when they are actually playing lol. If it wasn't for the trainer i was working with i would have never taken Stitch in actually . i kept telling myself i didn't need another horse but she was looking past what he was and seeing all his potential (which he has tons of lol) and convinced me to get him.

Wow....what an amazing transformation! He looks great!!!

BUT, I would watch out if you're going to do anything more than flat work with him. That hind end is VERY straight. I would be very surprised if it held up for any kind of performance event, especially with his hind end history. Be careful.... I, myself wouldnt do anything other than flat work & trail riding with him b/c he is going to be VERY prone to hind end injuries.

I think people are being a little bit dramatic about the downhillyness in Stitch; he's not that bad. Like...at all.

But, I really don't agree with doing barrels on him. I realize this is your choice, but since he's so up-and-down...it doesn't seem likely at all that he will be able to keep up with the physical demand of barrel racing.

He's actually not that straight i think its just the pics i'll put in more pics to show the difference. I'm taking him slow and have the help of a trainer (mainly does barrel horses) that is really well know and very liked around here. If she doesn't think you horse is built for something or isn't conformationaly correct enough she'll be the first one to tell you point blank . If he can't handle barrels then thats fine he won't do them. I'm not going to MAKE him lol. I do know that he is a very high energy horse and does alot of his own "barrel racing" and cutting out in the pasture all the time and he has never made himself lame.

first time being saddle in early spring

first trimming

What exactly do you mean by so up and down? before i jump to conclusion and be wrong about it lol.

The only reason i am considering it is because he IS a very high engery and highly ACTIVE horse out in the pasture and he has stayed sound so far. If it turns out he can't handle it then i won't push him. Its ok if he never races but as of right now that's the plan .

I just worded it all kooky.

Then they are turned out to pasture again until they are ready to start. I know alot of people that do it that way. Nothing to involve the SPCA about, i KNOW he should have gotten more care than what he did and i'm not impressed with how she handled it but all her horses are healthy and happy and i know ALOT of other people that need to have their horses removed imediately.

I know Stitch was awful but all her other horses are well taken care, at good weights, and happy. I'm not being snotty i just know that there are plenty of other people that are FAR worse than just one horse having feet issues.

Well, the throw-em-out-in-a-field approach may work for her other horses, but his feet were ATROCIOUS! If the system works, fine. But it clearly wasn't working for him. He needed more than once a year trim. Just because the system worked okay for the other horses is no excuse for ignoring such overgrown feet. That could have been the end of him, if she had continued to let them get worse until he couldn't walk! The past is over and done, you don't have to justify/explain what she did. I think it was shameful. I know you have a personal connection to her and you disagree. It's okay. What matters is that you have the horse now and he looks 110% better and your farrier is doing great with him.
