Post Mucking out.

hey, well, because four of my horses will be in a two horse stable, I dont have anywhere to put my horses muck. i live on a main road, and have three feilds 15 miles or so away. we have a few neighbours take the muck away in feed bags, and bring the bags back. I cannot put the muck into bags, my mum usually does that, any idea how I could get rid of a load of muck? One stable can take up 20 feed bags!! And the other stable will take loads, as it can’t be mucked out because of the no space! Please give me some ideas! At the moment I have two Shetlands, running from one stable to the other, with both doors open, they have plenty of space. But with me being off school for two weeks, my pony is coming in with sunny. help! help! help!

I put an advert in the paper "Free to Good Home" LOL - No one wants it if it has shavings in, a local farmer might take it if there is straw in it, but in saying that, they don't like Horse droppings as a fertilizer they say there are too many seed in the droppings that grow as weeds. LOL

I get a bloke from an allotment by me to come and trailor it away - he will only take what I get up off the field though - he won't touch the stuff with shavings in.

Is there not part of the outside yard Kelly that you could use pallets to make a muck heap? I know you have neighbours.

People prefer it when it has rotted down a bit.

Try an ad in the paper(do you get a free advertiser, like we get the Bargain Pages?) or put a notice up in the post office and shops.

Some gardeners are prepared to come and bag it themselves.

Good luck, I know it's hard to shift, and if you can't burn it because of the neighbours, try Free to Good Home LOL

there isnt anywhere to put it. some of the muck we have piled up in a corner of the stable is around 2/3 years old, and would be great for the gardens. we dont use shavings very often, we use paper which rots really good.

I didn't think so, seeing your lovely place when you sent me the Photos of Sunny( Still would love him)

Try the add thing, or a local farmer, you might just drop lucky like me. If not I think the only way, but it might cost, is to get a local farmer to transport it to the field and dump it a corner there. I know the local tip won't take it unless you disguise it in bags, like garden rubbish, but imagine how many trips you would have to do with 3 years worth

And they say 'where's there muck there's money' NOT

lol, Sunny bit me a few weeks back! lol, it might have been because hed been in for the winter. I rode sunny! up this huge hill and he was such a good boy! lol, hes getting there, the problem is we need to have a small paddok witha stable so i can spend more time with him! lol, im sure i'll work somethng out for the muck, But you might know the kinda farmers around here, they dont take kindly to people asking for something even if they are being paid. and its even worse if you can speak "proper welsh" or "their welsh". lol

Cool

You could get a spreader. They sell smaller ones for small horse farms. You throw the muck ui there, then drive away and spread it. It works great. wink

Kelly,

I am so glad you are getting there with Sunny, he truly is a beautiful pony cute_kis

Oh Yes, I def know what the Welsh Farmers are like, you know I grew up in Wales, and yes they can be funny. They are just as bad round here LOL, I have just struck lucky

Just a little off topic - when my Dad was alive, we would go into one pub in Llansanfraid, and all the locals would stop talking English and start talking in Welsh. It was so funny
