No, just broke out and worked with for a weekend I believe. Jackson's breeder is the biggest large animal vet in my county and adjoining ones so naturally Monty used one of their babies.

I'll scan the article tomarrow. It says he was "stubborn" hahaha

Not my favorite by any means.Basically just comes down to differences of opinion on a couple of matters. Not bad though, just not someone I follow at all

What I read/seen from people who have difficulty with Monty Roberts is they haven't taken the time to study his methods thoroughly in depth in order to understand and apply the methods fully in the correct manner. I have a huge autographed poster of Monty in my living room- he did a seminar here when I was in college and our group volunteered to help put it on, so we got free admission and free posters- I also got my pic with him! When it was time for me to train my boy, I got his book "from my hands to yours" which is kinda like a pictorial dictionary of his movements and methods. I know I'm not as near as effective as someone who apprentices with him, but the ideas make sense to me, so I find I can apply the principles. To me, that's the difference in the big name trainers- if you cut it down to the basics- many are applying similar techniques, just in different ways or with different explanations. since ppl are all different and process information differently, more than one method can be effective. A method can only be effective if the person applying it can understand it.

Anyway, regarding Monty, I have found his work very impressive, taking the basic language of the horse and applying it. Others may find other trainers' methods to be 'better' and thats ok with me as long as it is not aggressive or harmful to the horse.

I've seen Monty work with horses in person and I personally think he's awesome. I had a chance to meet him and talk with him and he seems like a really down to earth guy. He seemed to be really gentle with the horses and he got results with the ones I saw.

I don't like his equipment he uses.

And I don't like LISTENING to him talk about Join up. But Join up itself is a great tool. Just don't listen to his explanation of WHY the horse is doing this or that, and just watch the horse and him work.....

Then there are other areas I shake my head watching him........and wonder why on EARTH people worship his feet?

So my comment about him is this on this subject..... Depends on what he was working Jackson on would be the determining factor of what I thought about him working with jackson.

He's like any NH horsemanship trainer.

Some things I like about him, other's I strongly dislike.

I cant think of one trainer that I like everything about. I just go to clinics and take what I like from them all and try it. What might not work for one horse will work with another.
