Mocha has a new baby brother!!! UPDATE RIP Baby Poncho

If anyone remembers I made a thread a while back about how huge Mocha's dam was getting as she neared her due date. She literally looked like she had swallowed a car...or maybe a small house.

I got an email from her breeder this morning when I checked in, and Mocha has a brand new baby brother!! Mocha's dam Apache foaled on the 4th at 11am. What a good mare huh? Nothing worse than middle of the night.

They're not sure whether he's going to turn out a bay paint or a buckskin (he has a few gold hairs on his back and muzzle) but he's pretty cute. Unfortunately this is the only picture I have of him at the moment but he's a doll by the looks of it!

Just thought I'd give an update!!

oh my goodness is he ever cute. Of course she has to foal when we have our rainy weekend too.lol. I love his face markings! so much white

Oh I know, Apache was good on the time of day...bad on which day apparantly. I am going to be so happy if the rain quits tomorrow, Mocha is going to be a MESS when I go out.

And yeah I was thinking bay too, but its hard to tell from that picture, I can't wait for more!

Yup, full brother to my girl.

2005 was Mocha, buckskin paint

2006 was her full sister who was a solid chesnut

This year is this little guy who is looking like a bay paint so far.

Haven't had the same color twice so far but all have turned out great.

Update from the breeder:

"Sadly on May 11th at 6:30 am Poncho passed away at exactly one week old.My husband went out to do evening chores on the evening of May 10th and noticed something was not right with Poncho,he refused to get up and wouldn't stay up if he did get him up.Long story short the vet figured he had a twisted gut due to frolicing around or rolling or was severly impacted due to eating something he shouldn't have.We made every effort we could to help Poncho,but could not save him."

RIP Poncho

I really don't know what to say...well I know what I want to say but I won't.
