Usually when the mare is in-foal,she begin's showing around the sixth month.Do you have any picture's? That would make it easier for us to see how far along she is.But there is also test's you can do to tell how far along she is,i'm not sure what type of test's though, seeing as i have never had this problem before. While it varrie's from horse-to-horse,usually people breed their mare's after their first or second cycle, which end's up being around late april and may, with that being the mare's strongest heat cycle.
I'm not sure how your mini's heat cycle is,and she could have gotten pregnant anywhere from jan to august, but it's probably more likely that she got pregnant around april-june,as that is when their heat cycle is the strongest.I'm not an expert, sorry, but i hope that helped.Good luck!

I'd bet she will foal in the spring, if she was let to run with the stallion, they tend to breed on their own, for the right time of the year to foal....good luck..Cathy

thankyou!...

personally i think shes going to foal late march. i rang the vet shortly after this thread, and he said that because she is only 33'' he cant actually have a feel, otherwise he could give us an estimate as to how far off she is (this is a method im familiar with...) the only way he said was to do an external scan...only problem was that practice does not have one and hes pretty sure that there is only a few within this area that are willing to fetch them to us. so we're still in the dark with it!!! but he has said that when he comes out to the other horses for tetanus jabs he will check her over for us. shes looking quite heavy at the moment, but she is rather underweight so hopefully as we get weight onto her a little more she may even out a little.

has anyone else had any other methods other than feeling or external scanning???

Yes as windwalker stated, pics may help us to determine how far alone she is.

There are also signs your mare will show as she gets closer-
soft on the rump above the dock,
frizzy tail at the top,
teats will enlarge...1 to 4 week before foaling,
vagina will become streatched and smooth...(no wrinkles),
Her poo will become smaller and she will wee more.
wrestlessness,
pacing,
off feed,
