Mini horse/Qh!!!!!!

okay...well I am riding 4 horses for my dad's ex-wife (loooonnngg story..but they just grew apart..and my mom and her are good friends..i kno kinda twited.. lol) and her friend bought a miniature mare that was really pregnant,we thought there might be twins, so she had the vet out..no its just one baby..so she phoned the previous owner and she said she is in foal to a 14.2hh qh stud! and that therewere no other stallions on the property...
she is due in 3 weeks..were not sure if shell explode b4 then or nbot..but her bellys dragging on the ground slightly! she is a large mini luckily, she stands at 35"h...It just is still boggling my mind! I will HAVE to get pics of the mom, dad(if i can) and baby when he/she comes!

A baby will not grow bigger than the mother can hold. SO I am sure she will be fine. Keep us updated and get pics if you can!

the only problem with breeding with a bigger horse, their feet etc could be bigger, and you may get complications(sp?)

She should be ok but when she goes into labor I would have the vet come out. I've been researching ALOT on mini's..Cuz one day I want to start breeding them. Its good that she is a bigger mini. That will help things out alot. But like someone else said there can be complications. Like legs not straight....Feet bowed or piogeon toed..Hopefully you'll have a beautiful baby thats correct..If he/she stays under I think its 32'' but don't quote me on that you can hardship the baby into a registration..

Re:

Coming from a Miniature Horse breeder -- BE THERE WHEN THIS MARE FOALS!!!! Miniature Horses ESPECIALLY are prone to difficult deliveries.

I've heard of Miniature Horses being bred to Quarter Horses and various other large breeds before, even Shetland/small ponies x Drafts, though I don't have any experience with them.

AMHA: 34.00" & Under
AMHR: 38.00" & Under

AMHR is closing their doors to hardshipping -- no hardshipping whatsoever after this year.

Good luck.

My cousin had a shetland when she was young and it went under the fence to my Aunts 16hh stud.... The baby came out small then grew into a 14hh horse. I have to agree be there when the baby is born Just incase

Personally I would be there w/ any baby. but yes mini's can expecially have a hard time. Thats why I suggested a vet be there too.
