Midwest Storms

This was the scariest storm I've ever been in... and I've been in 3 tornadoes in my life.

Around 3pm this afternoon, I noticed it was starting to get dark in my work office. So, I rolled up the blinds, and look outside. It was pitch black out. If a sky could look mean... then that's how I would describe it. Mean and ugly. About 15-20 minutes later, it started to down pour. It was raining so hard you could not see the cars in the parking lot. That's when the tornado alarms and the wind hit. The wind was blowing so hard, and it was raining so hard, that it was hitting our front glass door so hard it was pouring through the seams and flooding the entry way. Our warehouse started to flood and there was water pouring in through the sky lights. I found out later that the wind was 60-80 mph.

Absolute devastation in my area. Trees down, flash flooding, power out, train system unable to function, and planes grounded. I had to pick up my dad's dog 2 miles down the street from my work at the groomers, because he was stuck on the high way... where two semi trucks were flipped. It took me 45 minutes to drive what should have taken me 5 minutes. Trees, houses, cars... destroyed everywhere.

Then it two me another 2 hours to get home, through the 2nd waves of storms. Green sky all around me, stops lights were out, and the traffic was a parking lot. I almost had a panic attack. I just wanted to get home and get in the basement.

We're suppose to get more storms tonight and in the morning. Send out a prayer for the Midwest guys. We're getting crushed.

I'll take the rain if you keep the wind and the tornados. Keep your flashlight at your side and food and water in the basement then hit the breaker and steal snuggles with your hubby. May as well make a night of it.

Sounds scary!
But I still love Kansas storms. We have great ones. I enjoy the rush from a storm like the one you had every once in a while. One like that hits here about once a year.
I just hold on and enjoy the ride...and hope that no one gets hurt.
