- I am a 24-year-old college student, currently studying to be Veterinary Assistant with a specialization in horses. A Veterinary Assistant is basically a nurse for animals: they keep records, care for animals, help during surgeries, etc. Toward the end of my schooling, I will be allowed to choose an area to specialize in (dogs, cats, exotics, etc.). I am choosing to specialize in Equines.
I do not currently own a horse, but I am hoping to soon. I am in central Florida, near several communities that are very horse-friendly. I am hoping to find a stable not to far from where I live to take dressage lessons and board a horse of my own.
