oh, I can totally understand the busy part, we are crazy here too! Yes it is the one that does not get along with geldings, he is so nice in every other way it is relaly too bad. He loves mares, adn is ok by him slef, but immediately makes him self king of the feed time and is mean to other geldings. They would really like to see him go, so if you friend wants to check him out, let me know and I can put them in contact! Thank you so much!

Are you still looking for a horse for you son? I have a friend that would relaly like to move her huge appy gelding. He is a big boy, well broke, anyone can ride him, does not like to go fast. Been at 4H, parades, and many miles of trails, with all sorts of riders from novice and little kids to good riders and large adults. She will let him go for 500.

OK, here's our plan... Doug is going to head down there on Friday early enough to hopefully get a spot for us, and then I will come later after work. I probably won't arrive until 6 or so. We will probably stay two nights unless it gets crowded/rowdy there. Also, if you want to cook with firewood, you will need to bring some. There is SOME there, but it is pretty green from the clearing that the county has been doing this summer.

OK -- Yes, we would ride at Brinton...but, it could be full...no way to know until you get there! Just didn't want you to be disappointed! Last year a church group came in and took over the whole place during Labor Day weekend! It that happens, we will just ride, and not camp. (There is not much room -- maybe 4 - 5 units could fit in there! We live really close, so it would not be a big deal to us to not be able to camp.
I need to talk to my hubby again and firm up our plans, too.

There's a small area for camping...and no way to reserve, so I am not sure if we will camp there or not! (We live really close.) There is no water, so you have to bring water for your horses and yourself...and no electricity, & just a pit toilet.

Hi Pam...We couldn't reserve at Shimek, so we will probably camp and ride at Brinton Timber this weekend, probably Saturday and Sunday...maybe Monday...depends on how much activity there is at the timber! Would any of that work for you?

Yep, Deanna and I (& Doug) are going to Brinton Timber tomorrow morning...it is just west of Brighton, IA (south and a little west of Washington).
We have hay down and will be working with it Sunday!

Oh we got one that is just a boring old trailer. Holds 4 or 5 if they are small and you squish them! I suppose the front of the gosseneck could be made into a lq. but it is so full of tack, we just take our tent and rough it! I also have a frind that has a HUGE trailer, we call it the Titanic, it is a 4 horse that they load up a ramp in the side and a nice lq, they said they might sell it. What we liked about Bills trailer is the nice area for tack and the way the saddle rack folds out. My hubby thinks it was about a 10 foot lq, but not sure, had a bathroom and a kitchen a table so there could be two beds. He could not remember the shape of the tires, I do think it has sat there for a while. Hope it works out, you will be onlylike 7 miles from our house! You could come on over and ride! Bills son trains and sell horses, I do not know what he has right now, but you coudl ask, his name is Curt.
