Yup! They will forage over the fence, where my tree line is, and get the stuff on them...and then nuzzle me on the face, and boom I got it...one year, I joked that my horse gave me an awful present for christmas, and everyone looked at me funny....she gave me poison ivy, roflmao! Poison ivy, is still very potenet all year along, even if you spray it to kill it, that stuff is still poison...my mother got it real bad when she was a teenager, when her dad and brothers were burning it, she got it in her eyes, my youngest brother, only has to look at the stuff and he gets it really bad...funny thing is I don't even know what it looks like, I look at any viney plant with 3 leaves, and start to back away!
Cathy - You are lucky, the first time I got it, was in 1987 when I first moved here, I was weed eating, and got it splattered all over my face....boy was I a mess....lucky for me, we went to the ocean for a week, and between the salt water of the ocean, and the clorine of the swimming pool, it cleared it up real fast....I try to stay away from it, but have even gotten it from my horses! they are not alergic, but if they get the resine (sp?) on their face, it ends up on my face or fingers (between my fingers! of all places!) I have learned to be careful, but never thought about it being on the fire wood, that we use to heat the house!
Cathy - I am fine, except for the poison ivy that I have on my face! My DH cut up a fallen tree in our wooded section of our property, abnd it was in poison ivy...that was last spring...well the poison ivy residue is still on the cut and split fire wood, and I got it on my hands, and now it's on my face
I got some cream today...it's not the first time that I have had this happen in the winter time....I will remember to wear my gloves for now on!
