My four horses are:
Holly: A 20 yo solid-bred Paint mare - unfortunately unregistered. I've had her since she was a yearling, but never got her registered before the DNA requirements for sire and dam went into effect.
Harley: A 14 yo dark bay NSH Gelding. He's a Bask grandson. He's Gorgeous and he knows it. Moves like a dream. Likes to think he is the Herd Boss.
Billy: A 6 yo Sorrel APHA Gelding. Billy is a character. Some days he's 6 going on 2, other days he's 6 going on 30. Wants to be in your pocket all the time.
Baby: Ok.... cliche name. She's Holly's 2yo filly. Registered Half-Arabian. Sorrel Overo. Small for 2, I'll wait t

Experimented today with another location. Mixed feelings. Free access. Gorgeous scenery - except for the broken glass and beer cans at the start of the ride. Oh, and the vehicle traffic.
Did not take Harley - good thing as he would have freaked out at some of the rocks and cacti. Bill behaved well for me. Ray fell off Holly as she was cantering up a slope.
We'll try taking the truck down the road to the river. If it looks promising, we may try this area again.

Ok... after a summer of triple digit temperatures, we finally had a break and temps were only in the 90s today.
Took Billy and Harley out to Usery Pass, and they were both goobers.
Harley apparently forgot that he actually DOES like doing trail rides. He forgot that he had previously figured out that the rocks and cacti are NOT going to eat him. By the second half of the ride I was able to get him on a nice long rein.
Even Billy spooked twice. Miraculously,...
