I'm brand new to this. Saw your post & wondering if your horse's feet are any better. I had issues to with my T-bred feet when I moved him from PA to TX, and 4 months later moved him back to PA where soon after he had a horrible abcess. His feet were a mess but I think the key to healthy hooves is having an excellent farrier...which I am blessed to have. His feet are so much healthier now. So my recommendation for your horse is to have an awesome farrier & the use of Keratex on your horse's hooves. Hope that helps.

I saw you live in Summerville - I'm pretty close. What barn do you go to?

    You miss the desert??? Crazy...crazy

I remember when we moved up here my horses had a bit of a time too... they spent most of the time laying down and resting... enough that I was getting a bit worried until someone told me it's normal... just them trying to adjust to the altitude.

I've been fine. I've got 2 more days of work and then a month off...

Yes... the Teakster did get me off... little sh*thead We were going around the hill by our house and a raven flew out from behind a rock right next to us. Usually he just barely flinches when he spooks and calms right down... but he just kept on jumping. Felt like I was on a rodeo bronc.

I was nervous the first time I rode him again and he was picking up on it... until we met up with a lady down the street and started talking. I forgot to be nervous and he calmed right down.

I haven't rode much since though. He's had a big crack in his hoof and it worries me to ride him like that. So I'm waiting until I can get the farrier out to fix him up.

...it pours. Literally. Sigh. The ponies are not adjusting as well as I had hoped to the extreme climate change - Ethel had some sort of reaction to insect bites or possibly rolled in fire ants and is miserable. Sister's mud fever is back and worse then ever, and she managed to remove a good chunk of hair when I was tacking her up on Sunday and she flipped out. Sigh. c'est la vie with horses I suppose - I just want my girls to be happy and healthy and to be able to enjoy them. And the mud, oy vay....

Since I posted here! Wow! So much has changed!

First off - I had the amazing opportunity to work with a trainer since about April and Ethel is a completely different horse. She is really rather amazing now - we are jumping cross rails, and she is is moving out beautifully. And we have somehow developed this amazing bond over the past 6 months or so.. I love my big grey mule (she really is a mule sometimes, but i luff her anyway). I can't wait to get her out to SC and get back in training...

S is going to look like a million bucks. I'm so excited!! And we just got hay delievered! I love fresh stacks of hay - so green and purty. I can't wait to get my saddle. Life is good today.

Had a very horsey weekend - The weather was gorgeous here! Mid 60s, sunny, no wind, yeehaw.

Saturday - Had a short training session with S, talked to my neighbor who said my ponies are beautiful and she loves watching them After that, Hubby & I decided to ride the girls together for the first time since we bought them; First we just took them around the property and E was being a little witch, but I decided, what the hey, we might as well take them out on a mini-trail ride,...

I haven't updated here in a while because there hasn't been much horsey activity here on Starlight Acres to report. The weather was not great the past few weeks, but it broke yesterday It was sunny, mid 60s, and no wind. So I actually stopped working at a reasonable time and I rode S & E. S was really good, E, eh, she was ok. I really want to take both of them down to the arena this weekend and ride them NOT in a circle for once on ground that is level and safe. If the weather stays...
